PLACES TO GO

BODEGA HEAD TRAIL

A massive granite promontory, Bodega Head, which is part of the Sonoma Coast state park, shelters the north and west sides of Bodega Harbor from Pacific Ocean storms. Bodega Head has two trails, which you can hike individually or easily combine into a longer hike.

WHALE WATCHING

Bodega Head peninsula just so happens to be one of the West Coast’s premier whale watching locations. On weekends from January through May, volunteers from the Whale Watch Public Education Program spend time at Bodega Head to help visitors catch a glimpse of the whales as they migrate.

SPUD POINT CRAB COMPANY

Owned by a long-time fishing family, it serves what some locals consider the best chowder and Dungeness crab sandwiches countywide. They provide hot coffee and beverages every morning, along with donuts for the fishermen, locals and visitors.

DORAN REGIONAL PARK

Doran Regional Park features a wide, 2-mile stretch of beach on Bodega Bay and is ideal for walking, picnicking, playing in the sand, flying kites, surfing, and bird-watching. Visitors can also find a rock jetty on the west end of the park that serves as a popular spot for fishing and exploring sea life. Finally, there is a boat launch that provides access to Bodega Harbor and Bodega Bay for sport fishing, kayaking, stand-up paddling, and kite surfing.
